The Bahai faith, founded in Iran in 1844, teaches that all religions are one. In the 1960s, visiting Bahais brought the faith to the indigenous Tagbanua living in the rural village of Gogongnan in Aborlan, Palawan. Aborlan is the political centre of Tagbanuas, the dominant indigenous group of Palawan Island. In Gogongnan, the Tagbanuas’ unique worldview and spiritual beliefs have been fused together with Bahai teachings. For these previously isolated tribal people Bahai faith serves a tool through which they make cultural connections with the rest of the world.
